PSYCHOLOGICAL FACTORS OF DRUG ADDICTION

Drug Addiction

In my English class at North Florida Community College we gathered information and did a research paper on a subject that affects us personally and would interest the public.

I decided to do my research on drug addiction and it's affects on the people around the addict. This really hits me on a personal level because I grew up with a drug addicted father. I found that most drug addicts fall into four psychological categories.

Here are my discoveries:

Four Psychological Factors:
Denial
Coping Abilities
Learned Behaviors
Personality Patterns

I discovered most drug addicts start with light less agressive drug such as marijuana. Most people think this is not an addictive drug and should be legalized, they are dead wrong. Marijuana is the beginning of a long journey to more harsh drugs and should not be viewed lightly. If you feel you know someone is trying marijuana for the first time stop them before it can be to late to help.

There is hope! After interviewing a reformed drug addict, it gives you hope that people can be helped and there is light at the end of the tunnel.

5.5 million people are addicted to drugs.

70% of Americans have tried drugs

20% in just the past year

The united States has the highest rate of illicit drug use in the world..

You Can Save A Person From A Life Of Drug Addiction!!!

I Agree

Look for the signs of drug addiction and help your fellow American in the war on drugs.
